How it works
Not the seven-year myth.
Dogs and cats use common first-year and second-year milestones, then age at a species-appropriate adult rate. Dogs also account for adult size.
For rabbits, small mammals, turtles, parrots, and ornamental fish, the result is a lifespan-scaled life-stage comparison. Their biology varies enormously by species, breed, care, and environment, so it is intentionally presented as an estimate.
